Incorporated in 1910 the Everett Mountaineers is the oldest of seven regional branches of The Mountaineers, the largest outdoor recreation and conservation club in the Pacific Northwest. Our members share a wide variety of recreational interests, ranging from sea kayaking to trail maintenance and climbing. We conduct some of the best courses available to promote safety and leadership for our activities. So please explore our web site or attend one of our monthly meetings to discover more about us. Branch Membership Meetings
Thanks to all who attended the branch meeting January 5th. Jeff Johnston and Gene Yore discussed the club's 'board level initiative to develop an organization wide technology strategy' to better serve the membership's needs going forward. Jeff stressed the importance of input from users in determining what features and capabilities will be considered as the club moves to update among other things, the main web site.
You may have noticed the "Feedback" tab that's been added to the club's web site (www.mountaineers,org or http://feedback.mountaineers.org). There are a variety of issues already up for discussion (things like consolidating the various activity web sites, signing up for trips, arranging carpools, rating trip leaders and posting pictures, member profiles and a bunch more) and new topics can be posted. Let's take advantage of the opportunity and get our ideas and concerns heard at the board level.
Members, guests, and the general public are invited to join us on the first Wednesday of each month, except December. Meetings are held at the Snohomish County East Administration Building, 3000 Rockefeller, in Everett.
Be advised that we are no longer meeting at the First Congregational Church
Volunteer Opportunities
We area looking for talented volunteers to head up our Scrambling and First Aid Committees. If you're interested, please contact interim Branch Chair Matt Vadnal (chair@everettmountaineers.org).
We are also looking at help with programs management - assisting with recruiting people to share their experiences with the branch at monthly meetings or at other special events. If interested, contact Evan Moses or Matt Vadnal (programs@everettmountaineers.org)
LOTM committee is in need of some volunteer leadership. Check out available positions and contact Forrest if interested.
The branch is looking for volunteers to take on the treasurer position. Main branch accounting is handled via the club's services, but the branch still needs a liaison to take care of lightweight duties and reporting. If interested, contact interim branch chair - Matt Vadnal chair@everettmountaineers.org.
Trip Leaders are desperately needed to take out a Snowshoe trip this winter following our Snowshoe Lite Course. Any Scramble leader can lead snowshoe trips if they have had the Avy #1 class. Please contact Ron Riter to volunteer. We want to make this class a success. By the way, volunteer trip leaders are welcome to audit the lectures and help on the field trip if more training is desired.
A small but dedicated group of branch members have met to discuss revamping the branch web site. If you have ideas to share, graphics, design or web programming skills we'd love to include you in the next meeting. Contact Site Administrator Evan for more information.
Lastly - if you've been a member of the branch for a while and have some new ideas for where the branch can go in the future - consider volunteering for branch chair position. Contact interim chair - Matt Vadnal if you're interested or have questions - chair@everettmountaineers.org.
