Conservation
The Everett Mountaineers is committed to preservation of the wilderness
for present and future enjoyment. The Conservation Committee acts
as an advocate for the branch in that cause, and participates in
many local and regional initiatives. In the past, the committee
has drafted letters opposing pavement of the Mountain Loop Highway,
and protested commercial development of land designated for state
parks.
The Conservation Committee keeps the
branch informed about conservation issues, representing the branch
on these issues, and works to counter the impact of wilderness use
by generating awareness, enthusiasm, and interest in resource conservation.
